Passive Aggressive

Dear Blog,

Juniper is a very delightful child, but when it comes to sleep (and sometimes eating) she can be frustrating. I know those feelings are normal but I always feel foolish when I just lose it.

For instance...

Earlier today she was ever so ready for her nap. She was fed, dry, numbed (teething) and rubbing her sleepy eyes. For some reason she wouldn't stay down in her crib. So, I decided to do something that always helps her fall asleep: sing a bed time song. I start to sing as softly and sweetly as I am capable...

I have a family here on Earth, They are so good to me...

Meanwhile Juni starts to push away from me, making my blood boil!

I want to -- STOP IT!

Pause. She stops. I continue.

--share my life with them through all eternity.

Oy vey. Makes me feel crappy when I lose patience like that. No need to react that way, Emily, no need. At least it makes for a funny ridiculous story, right? That's so sad.

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

Such a stinker!

La Femme d'Affaires

Dear Blog,

Yesterday, Juniper, Grammy and I stopped by Grandpa's office. We found a cute little "briefcase" there and what do ya know! She was ready to go to work herself. A true femme d'affaires. And her outfit just fit the whole ensemble.

I think she's starting something with the barefoot at work thing.

I just can't get enough of her lately.

I used my phone to record this video so please excuse the poor quality

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

Nothing Spectacular

Dear Blog,

Today is Monday and it's a good day. The sink is empty and the counters are wiped (that is an automatic good start to any day). Disney music is playing throughout the apartment and Juniper is gabbing along and playing with her toys. There is a lovely golden light coming in through the dining room curtains I made. Sure, the curtains didn't come out how I thought they would and I think they're kind of ugly but the lighting they bring is worth it. And to top it all off, the weather is divine. I love having the windows open all day and night. It makes me feel nostalgic for last year at this time. I was pregnant and anxiously awaiting Juniper's arrival. Which means Juni will be one year old soon! Which means I've got to go and plan out a party!

View from our living room window

Happy Monday!

Love,
Emily Wilcock

"George's Grocery Gallery"

Dear Blog,

If you haven't already been over to Heath's blog, or haven't in a while, you should. His most recent story is about the most unique little town called Grooder. Everyone rides on a tandem bike.

Also, he did a funny (and disgusting) story called "Margaret's Head Lice" that will leave you with an itch on your head. I know, gross. But oh so entertaining.

Really. Where does he come up with some of this stuff?

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

Blueberries and Bellies

Dear Blog,

I have some more cute and funny pictures of Juniper today...

Uh, mommy, what are you doing?

I'm really not in the mood for pictures.

Get that camera out of my face!!!

OK, Juni. You asked for it.

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

Yum!

Rubber Duckie

Dear Blog,

I finally uploaded photos of the past month from my camera onto the computer today. I couldn't resist sharing these bath time moments.

I could just eat her up!

What Time Is It Mr. Fox?!

Dear Blog,

About a year ago, Heath's work gifted him a little device that tells the time, date, temperature, and weather. I guess the information comes to it via radio waves from a tower in Colorado and apparently it keeps your clock from slowing down or speeding up so you never have to adjust it.

Well yesterday, November 4th, I read something very alarming. Something I never thought possible...

Take a closer look...

Yep! On November 11, 2010 in Mesa, AZ at 2:58:43, it was 126.5 degrees outside and raining!!! In fact, it got up to 129. To bad that the actual temperature was still a bit unbelievable at 89 degrees.

Oh, and the time was about 15 minutes slow (we checked our alarm, computer and phone clocks which all agreed). Doesn't seem too accurate to me.

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

"You Say I'm Not Romantic"

Dear Blog,

Heath was introduced to this band from one of his Utah buddies and now we can't get enough of it. They're considered electric funk and they have a fun 80's sounds. They joke that they are "the only successful Arab/Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture." And I heartily agree! Their videos are so funny and entertaining. Now get your retro on to this tune...

And if you enjoyed this one, you'll like this one. Heath and I laughed out loud quite a bit.

I love the eyeballs cruising down the street.

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

Juniper's 1st Halloween

Dear Blog,

Juniper Lucy was a spider this year for Halloween. A very frou-frou-ey, girly spider.

Here she is with little Lucy. She loves her.

Sorry, both of us were just busy enough to not prepare a costume (although some joked Heath was Peter Jackson for Halloween). I was bummed but we'll just have to use the idea we had for next year.

Juniper got to taste new things!

So, now that Halloween has come and gone, here's to cooler weather (cross fingers).

Sincerely,
Emily Wilcock

P.S. Juniper finally got her first tooth, the day after Halloween. Must have been all those sweets that got it to come out. She was exactly 11 months old. What a late bloomer.

Who Needs a Haunted House When You Have This?

Dear Blog,

I should have put these pictures up about 2 weeks ago but the truth is that my laziness prevented me from taking these until about 2 days ago. Anyhow, I know Halloween is officially over but I couldn't deprive you of this AWESOMELY DECORATED house. A house that Heath called home for over 15 years. His momma, Kerri, has some crazy good talent and knows exactly what she wants when it comes to decorating her house (and I know Juniper prefers Grammy's house to ours. What child wouldn't?). So sit back and get ready to "ooh" and "aah" and you'll be happy to celebrate Halloween for just one more day. Besides, it is still All Hallows Day.

On your mark...

Get set...

GO!!!

Starting from the entrance. Don't you just feel so welcomed?

Won't you please come in?

Kerri painted this depiction of her daughter when she was 10 (?). It was her exact height at the time.
